When you start off gymnastics is fairly easy. You are learning the basics, but once you get to be on a team and start competing it gets not more difficult but more demanding. I would say the hardest part is learning to trust yourself on any of the events with a skill you just learned. And for the person who said it was not a sport please go away!! There is a big chance for injuries. You obviously never watched the 1996 olympics when kerri strug vaulted and left her ankle mangled. Even I have 2 herniated discs in my back, broke one ankle, all ligaments are stretched out in my ankle, and torn cartilage in my hip, so once you try competition gymnastics you can talk!! But I have to say my hardest thing to trust myself doing was either release moves on the high bar or my back tuck on beam. The sport of gymnastics is both physically and mentally demanding!

Just because soccer is the "worlds best game" doesn't mean it is harder. Gymnastics is a demanding sport that consumes your life from the age of 3. Anyone can learn how to play soccer, no matter how old. But with gymnastics there is a certain age limit, you can't even be over 20! Harsh right? And even then the gymnast has a mere 2 years to do the best they can if they want to make the olympics and it is such a slim chance.... Soccer players get paid more and it isn't fair! Anyway back to the point, yes soccer is hard but gymnastics is harder! Face the fact! I've played both sports and it is easily said that gymnastics is SO MUCH HARDER! why don't you try doing insane flips across the floor, balancing on a 4 inch beam, flipping yourself across two wooden bars, hurtling yourself over the vault, pushing through the insane amount of strength and pushing yourself to be flexible, all through your life? I didn't think so, I bet the people who say soccer is harder can't even do a cartwheel (let alone do it on a beam) and I can just about say 99.9 percent of "people" can kick a soccer ball. So excuse me! ~I'm also having an on-going battle with my soccer-sister about this same topic :|

Gymnastics is hard cause most people think it's just doing a back-flip or a cartwheel but it's not you have to learn 4 events and have at least 10 years of experiance to go to the olympics and try to win a gold medal. Most people think it's just a little sport that boys do hard-core but girls are just too sissy well there are a lotta injuries in that sport and girls get hurt often. I did have injuries because i was just learning my back-hand-spring on how to do it by myself on the end of the trampoline onto some mats and i was determined to do it but since it was my first time iwas bound to do it wrong and so when i jumped back my knees or my shin was too close and so it banged aganist my nose and it hurt really bad but when i got up and started walking it stopped a little then i felt my nose running and thought it was but it was bleeding and i ignored that and i didnt tell the coaches cause i thought it wasnt a big deal but i worked through the pain and i love tumbling so that got my mind of it a little. And Yes it is a very hard hard-core sport and you have to do sit ups and push ups and sometimes they add new stuff when your gone or even when your there and you dont miss a practice it gets tougher. Sometimes the girls get pretty crazy if your in a group lol.

I've done gymnastics for 11 years and I think it's as hard as you make it. It's very tough mentally and physically, but if you have a good attitude and it's what you love, it doesn't seem that hard. I have never really had a hard time, except for learning a backhandspring on the high beam--I would do it in competition, but would never do it on the high beam in practice--it took me 2 years to get up the courage to do it on the high beam in practice. Now I'm fine, but that was the hardest thing for me in gymnastics--if you can conquer your mental hurdles, gymnastics will come a lot easier for you.

I think it must be really hard like one of the hardest sports to master. I have a few friends who are pretty good gymnasts and I went to a match or competition I have no idea what you call them but like 2 girls like dislocated there shoulder and one of my friends broke her whole arm and had to be in a cast for almost a year and like doing flips on a balance beam is like really hard looking. I kinda have some ideas on what some moves are because I am a dancer and a figure skater i also play lacrosse, hockey, and field hockey, all but I dont think they have much to do with gymnastics, I think I probably also think its got to be really hard because I can barely do a cart wheel but hey my friends who do gymnastics cant skate so I guess its all good, but I think gymnastics has got to be one of the hardest sports.

well when you are a beginner it is sometimes hard but when you start practising and get more training you will be good and it will be easy.

Its not a sport. There is no chance of serious injury. Add fighting and I might watch it.
