I can't make a case...

For all the Rivera voters out there, justify it. Nathan's the best shut down closer in Baseball today, ask yourselves this, Bases Loaded 0 outs up by one, who do you want more? I'll take the strikeout pitcher Nathan.

Papelbon's been great this year, but he hasn't done it like Nathan has. Little Papi's just had more chances. Although the ERA is amazing.

Stats:
Papelbon - 30 SV
57.1 IP / 32 H / 6 ER / 10 BB / 59 K / 0.94 ERA / 0.73 WHIP / .160 BAA

Rivera - 29 SV
61 IP / 49 H / 13 ER / 9 BB / 43 K / 1.92 ERA / 0.95 WHIP / .225 BAA

Nathan - 25 SV
49 IP / 31 H / 8 ER / 9 BB / 70 K / 1.47 ERA / 0.82 WHIP / .176 BAA

He's never done it in the post-season. When he does, it probably won;t be as good and as consistent as Rivera. It's Mariano, FIRST BALLOT HALL OF FAMER. You can;t say that about Nathan, Papelbon, K-Rod, Wagner, Lidge, etc. Everyone wants to annoint the next good closer, maybe they should wait a little bit and see how they do later in their career before the start handing out the "best" label.

Or Nathan blows it in the situation since he seems to struggle in a critical moment. Being a strikeout pitcher isn't going to mean a thing if you give up a hit at the worst possible time.

He is a very reliable closer -- top 3 in the game.
For this year he is not as dominate as Papelbon (Papelbon has 5 more saves, pitched more innings, and has an e.r.a. under 1).

For his career Rivera is the best -- by far! His stats and postseason stats speak for themselves... also 4 rings.

Nathan is a STUD! But, not the best in the game right now.
