I've been pregnant once before and been having the same syptoms. All types of milk smells rotten. And when I drink it, or having it with my cereal, I get a bad stomach ache and I ending tossing it back up. My OBGYN says I need to drink the milk. But I just can't. What should I do?

I couldn't drink milk either but I liked yogurt (especially with a couple spoonfuls of fatfree whipped topping mixed in) can you eat cheese? what about cottage cheese? hey, try lowfat icecream.......plenty of calcium in that too.
some of the orange juices are now calcium fortified........
meanwhile, you can always take your prenatal vitamins and if you can't stomach them than just take a flintstones chewable.........it's just as good for you.
Oh yeah, there are the viactiv calcium chews.
If you eat two of them a day (and they're good) you'll have your daily amount of calcium.

Of course doctors get things wrong, they are only human, although they like to think they are superhuman. You didn't share what symptons or signs you are having, so can't really help, but at the end of the day remember it is your body and sometimes mothers instinct kicks in, so just monitor these signs and if they continue contact your doctor again. Good luck and all the best when the new arrival comes.

have you tried flavored milk? like ovaltine? qwik? i hate milk also. but i love strawberry or chocolate milk. don't try the banana. it's gross! and calcium supplements, Vactiv or something. oh..and ensure was also a good supplement. maybe you are lactose intolerant during pregnancy? as gross as this may sound, i was in love with half and half. it's high in fat, but i loved the thick flavor.
there's also soy milk that is good (some brands anyway) stay away from smelly cheeses. yogurt is also good.

how about small increments of milk? i used to drink milk in shot glasses. like two an hour. this way my stomache didn't get that heavy feeling that caused me to throw up. it sounds silly, but i also used this method to get my kids to drink water.

and before anyone freaks out, no i did not drink alcohol in front of the kids. they thought it was a cute little glass to drink out of.

You need the milk for the calcuim to build bones and teeth for your baby. There are other ways to get calcium other than drinking milk, like yogurt and cheese or a calcuim tablet.

Be sure you are taking your prenatal vitamins too.

Have you tried yogurt, pudding, cheese, ice cream? Talk to your OBGYN about the fact you cant hold milk down but also keep in mind that you can get milk, and the calcium in it from other sources.

So what is this Doctor's answer to those who are pregnant and allergic to milk? You do not have to drink milk. There are other ways to get your nutrition. If you can't drink it don't!!!!! Can you stand cheese? How about cream cheese? I took calcium suppliments, my bones ached and the extra calcium helped me.

I have two children of my own ages 3 and 7mths. Although milk is good for u and your unborn child, if u can't keep it down than u just can't. My doctors never told me" U MUST DRINK MILK OR ELSE" As long as u can keep down food and other liquids than your good. If u don't like the doctor u have, u can get another one.

It is important to drink milk but you dont want to make yourself sick. Try getting your dairy in other ways, like cheese and yogourt. In my first trimester, milk made me nauseas but I would pour a glass and put it in the fridge and just take a sip here and there. Drink plenty of water and try to get dairy other ways....it will be better than you tossing it back up. In other words dont force yourself, You should be feeling better soon.

Sounds like your OBGyn is an old-timer or doesn't know a whole lot about nutrition. You can get calcium from lots of different foods, like green-leafy vegetables. Trust me, your body knows what you need, and if you need calcium, you'll crave foods with calcium.

Ask your doctor if you can take a calcium supplement instead or drink that orange juice with calcium. It won't do you much good to drink milk if you puke it up afterward.
