Don't be scared. And check Jetblue.com for flights. You can't stop doing the things you love from fear. Besides that's what terrorists want. I fly all the time and all the security measures aren't scary, just a hassle. They have changed them a bit, see the link below. No toiletries now, but that might be different by next year. You can still take on all your electronics, just pay attention and see if your airport wants you to put them into the xray separately from your bag. You usually do have to take your shoes off - but you could just wear thin flip flops if you don't want to. It's so totally not a big deal.

Many airlines probably serve the route between Charlotte and Orlando, however US Airways has a hub in Charlotte so they might offer the most choices.

Laptop should be OK, but keep in mind that there will be times when you will not be allowed to use it. The flight attendents will let you know when it is OK.

Bring something to read, or a game; things like that to pass the time. Dress comfortably.

You will probably need a photo ID, but since you will be traveling with your parents, maybe not. The airline will tell you. Just ask.

Don't be alarmed by the security procedures. It may seem new and scary to you, but it really is all routine. In fact, if you are asked to take your shoes off that is a good thing. It means they are checking other peoples shoes as well so there is less chance of anything happening. The same goes for the individual searches. You might be picked for this for any number of reasons, including just the computer picking your name. Don't be nervous. Hundreds of people will go through the same thing on the same day at your airport.

A final thought: The odds of ANYTHING serious going wrong on your flight are almost zero! Even on 9/11/01 which was a VERY bad day, only four flights out of hundreds, maybe thousands of planes in the air at that moment over the US were affected. Flying really is very safe!

US Airways. If you are under 18 you do not need a photo ID. My daughter is 16 and does not need one
