it really depends on what you wanna model for, if you wanna be a fashion model you have to be atleast like 5'9 and really skinny. For an art model you can be any height. You need to have a way of bringing out personality into your work, making it come alive, rather than just being a picture. There has to be some sense of reality in your pictures. You need to make what you are modeling stand out because your the focal feature of it.

Anyone can be a model as long as they have the right attitude, measurements are not set in stone people look for a unique look not just a few numbers. If you are happy with the work, and don't expect overnight success, you will be fine. If you are actually thinking about it here is some advise.
I have heard a lot of bad thing about SOME (not all) modelling agencies and how they make you pay for photos and photo sessions before they take you on then never give you any work. Always check with the local Better Business Bureau in teh US or Trading Standards in the Uk or Similar organisation elsewhere.
I think a better starting place before you go to agencies is if you have a friend who is reasonable with a camera (do not have to be a professional or even that good just okay) Just take 100 photos of yourself in different poses, clothing and backgrounds then pick out 10-20 nice photos. You can then use this as a portfolio, and even better instead of printing them which cost you money every time, host them on a website and get some business cards print with the website address on and just hand these out instead. This is a far cheaper way of doing it and with no RISK. You should never have to pay to get a job if you do there is a high chance it is a scam.
However if you would like a personal portfolio site please contact me and I will set you on up for free. I can design you a fully personalised flash website with as much or little information and then host it for you. This site can contain a gallery of your photos, personal information, list of work, contact details, etc or if you prefer just a couple of photos and nothing else. It can be password protected and all images will be protected as is humanly possible, or the photos can be available to download.
Examples of work can be provided on request. Just message me here if you want, I am a professional website designer but have lots of free time (and enough money) so I am currently doing free sites for small bands, small artist etc, basically anyone who could not afford them otherwise. I have my own hosting server so can offer hosting servers or you can host the site yourselves. No images sent to me will be used for anything other than your site and I will not give anyone your detail or link to the site. You will have complete control and the site can be removed or changed at any time. This is not a scam and I will design a site for FREE, I do not need the money, and enjoy working. If you do want it message me you can tell me what you want and how you want it done and I will help.
Depending how old you are I may require parents permission before i will do any work.

There are all kinds of models in this world. You can be any height.
If you want to be one of those sticks that walk the runways at fashion shows, you need to be at least 5'9".
Other requirements:
You need to have a 32-34 bust (this is the band size of your bra). No more than a 25" waist. No more than 35 1/2" hips. No tattoos or piercing other than ears. Small to medium boned, and fit not buff.
It helps if you have:
Graceful neck, high cheekbones, wide set large almond eyes, thick eyelashes, medium to full lips, straight white teeth, broad straight shoulders, long legs, good posture, and healthy hair. These can be worked on to look good on stage.
No skills involved, you just walk.
There are plus sized models, petite models, face models, hair models, hand models, feet models, and many more. Which ever one you try for, that area must be perfect.
If you are unsure if you could make it as some kind of model, talk to an agency to set up an appointment and have some good pictures with you. If there isn't an agency near you, they come around every so often and place ads in the classifieds that read "Looking for Models. Show up at such-and-such place at so-and-so time".

Depends on where you want to work and what sort of work you want to do in modeling. Anything under 5' 10" for a model in NY is short. You would benefit from acting classes to learn how to express yourself non-verbally.

There needs to be some kind of twinkle or sparkle to you.
Unique and not boring, tall and not plumb.
I like the models for make-up when they have glowing wide eyes.
Gd luck with it xx

Skills??????
I didnt realise having your picture taking and prancing up and down a room full of absolutely pretentious and egotistical tw*ts was a skill.
As for the height anywhere around the groin area usually helps when going to those all important go-sees. (sCHLURRRP)

for the thing i'm doing they said you have to be atleast 5'6 cuz you can always wear heels....but they didnt want us to be too skinny but they dont want you to be chubby so do a few sit ups!! and you should know how to walk....(stick out that chest! straighten out your shoulders, squeeze your butt so you dont have to try to move your hips...it comes natural if you squeeze your butt) but yea thats pretty much what i have to do!
