Not all Muslims are extremists, terrorists, or terrorist-minded. However, there is a substantial part of that community that is.
It's time for Muslims to take accountability for their religion and culture. Stop spinning, and address the fact that the Muslim culture is one of the most oppressive and violent cultures, against its own people, and certainly against other cultures.
For those who believe that the extremist element in Islam is small, the numbers are staggering. There are 1.2 billion Muslims in this world. Lets take a very liberal view that only a very small percentage of Muslims are exterme, while the rest of the Muslim world is very peaceful. So if only 10% of Muslims have extreme point of views, and may be a threat, and must be dealt with, meaning dealing with 120 million Muslims! How about 1%? Then you must deal with 12 million Muslims. How about 1/10 of a percent? Then you must deal with 1.2 million Muslims. The numbers are staggering! How do you propose dealing with even the "very low" figures of 1.2 million Muslim extremists?
I am sick and tired to hear from Muslim leaders appearing on TV continue to claim that Islam is such a "peaceful" religion(!). Well, thank Allah Islam is a "peaceful" religion. Can you imagine if it weren't??! The Islamic community must take accountability and help eliminiate its extreme element. Any other civilized community would. Muslims MUST condemn, unequivocally, any act of terrorism, as any other civilized community would.
It would be to the benefit of the World to rid of Hezbollah, Hamas, the Syrian and Iranian regime. It must be done to finally have a chance for peace in the region.

Likewise Pink Hostess: I would like to hear the views of honest to goodness Muslims on what they think about to-days events with something about the July London Bombings and 9/11. Do the fundamentalists really believe that they are doing the killings on behalf of Allah/God. What is the truth about entering Heaven. Catholics believe that those who commit suicide go to hell. Why are successful suicide bombers held in such high esteem. Is it the aim of the Islamic religion to convert the world to Islam. These and many more such questions regularly come to mind when I hear or read about the worldwide problems. I ask these questions with the greatest respect knowing only too well that there are millions of non-violent Muslims throughout the world..

I'm a Muslim, and not because I'm a Muslim I have this feeling the whole thing was a plot, the timing is just right cause the world is now against UK'S and USA'S way of dealing with the war in Lebanon so I think today was the perfect time to come up with something like this to keep the eyes away for a little while from the most terrorist acts that is going on there, the killing and starving of the Lebanese People, it was just the right time to remind people of the ugliness of terrorism and keep their feeling of hate for the extremists and Hezbollah so that they will have the people's applause for any action that might take place in the near future,
I hope you really think about my opinion which is not based on my religion but based on all the facts we've seen for the past ten years.

The events of today do not represent the feelings of ALL Muslims. From my understanding, most Muslims are peace loving and do not believe in this kind of violence. What I DONT understand is why NO leader in the Muslim community has come out to criticize these extremist activities. (not that I have heard) After all, there are many Muslims living happily here in the US, so we must not be such a terrible country after all.....

I am a Hindu and i know a lot Muslim people. One thing i cannot reject is the fact that most of the Terrorist organisations are Muslims. But that never makes Islam a bad religion or all the Muslims bad people.
I have personally read the Quran and know many Muslims people. One unfortunate thing about Islam is that there are many Muslims who feel that they can do any bullshit under the name of Islam & Jihad. Jihad is a holy thing. Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups have disgraced the whole cause of Jihad.
One more reason why Islam is being treated as a terrorist religion is because, its the aim of US foreign policy. Well, this is just my view it could be wrong.
The reason why i feel that involvement of US is because, US is the largest makers of weapons in the world. And recently the UNs request to reduce the quantity of arms made by US but US govt turned a deaf ear to it.
Most of the so-called Muslim terrorist use weapons made from US.
The other reason why US wants to black-list US is because. Under the name of World Protector they want to set their base in middle-east. The land of Crude oil. Now Crude oil is the one that rules the earth and US wants complete control over it.
So inshort, just to achieve their own personal goals. So people use Islam as a means to achieve their goals.
Muslims are being framed. And mind you, i dont hate Americans. I just hate the policy their govt has and i wonder why cannot the people of America use their Democratic powers. Is that nation that corrupted????

hopefully the same way anyone is feeling - shocked, worried and disgusted that any member of the human race could behave in such a way. Its immaterial what other muslims think - they are human as well and must be feeling worried that there is going to be a hate backlash against them by other extremist groups.
We should not be judging anyone on their religion - we should all be working together to remove these people who commit or try to commit such crimes from our society.

I'm not muslim. The events are not the display and views of the whole muslim sect, I believe. But I am sure that there are many muslims who do. I know the ones that did will be upset that the plan was thwarted but vowing to do more. And I am sure that the muslims who do not agree with the attempted actions are not happy because they will be unjustly treated.

in response to momofboys post.
i'm not muslim, but work within the community, and recently attended an awareness day. i found it to be very interesting. i can't remember the course leaders name, but he is a very prominent man in the muslim community. he told us that after 9/11, himself and the bishop of canterbury issued a joint statement condemning the events. HOWEVER, this was barely reported because it wasn't 'news-worthy' enuff.
so maybe the muslim community have spoken out, but we are not deemed intelligent enough by the media. who knows?

Today's events? it makes me laugh that these extremes get used every time to take the heat off the government.
What a great way to deter peoples attention from Lebanon.
