Well you can look it at this way

People that have already died have: 1. Been born (at one period in time) and 2. Died

People that are still alive have: 1. Only Been Born (at one period of time)

Since those that are still alive haven't died yet, you can logically say that more people have been born since the beginning.

A little more than 6 billion people have been born than have
died.

However, if "people" counts anything after the egg has been
inseminated, there have been far more deaths than births.
A lot has to go right between insemination and birth to get
an actual baby.

That general population continues to grow, which is a bad thing
for a resource-torn planet.

I'm guessing that it would average out - probably about the same number of births as deaths each day on average. Even though people these days live longer in lots of cases, there are probably still the same number of deaths as births every day - especially if you're counting the entire world.

More people have been born or we wouldn't be here.... the current living population is the difference between the two numbers.

Born.

All the people who have died have been born.

All the people alive today have been born, but not died yet.

But in the long run, the numbers will match.
