I've been dealing with a irate landlord/landlady since last year.Every little thing we constantly do or if something isn't fixed, rent paid on time, stuff out on the patio or grass isn't mowed she threats us with eviction . This morning while I was trying to get some sleep and my husband was sleeping. We heard heavy banging on our door and yelling from outside"I know you are in there" We both woke up to see what was going on but our landlady left.We went over to see what was the problem and she was complaining about our grass and it is about 2 inches. My husband and I both work nights and we keep up with the property but this has become out of hand. She constantly keeps a eye on us if we are doing anything but my neighbors could go without mowing or cleaning up their yard for months on end but doesn't get told about it.I am tired of having this kind of abuse..I pay our rent on time, and we keep to ourselves..I know it is their property but what could I do in this situation

It seems she has a specific problem towards my husband and I.We had tried to be reasonable to her but it is become out of hand that next time she comes to us about a problem,I am about to smack her.
I know moving is a solution but it is kind of hard to move as places for rent do not allow pets.Plus,I got approved for a mortgage but we need 10,000 down which we do not have

She cannot do "whatever she wants". It is her property, but that does not give her the right to harass you.

You need to go to a Landlord/Tenant attorney in your area and have them write a letter to her, basically telling her to knock it off and threatening some vague future action if she continues to harass you.

It will probably cost you about $75 to do this, but it will be well worth it.

Some people have boundary issues and too much free time on their hands. She sounds like one of these people. The only way to deal with it is with a 3rd party (a lawyer) who isn't afraid to put her in her place.

Do you have a lease or something in writing from this woman that states exactly what her rules are? If not, then she has no ability to enforce these ridiculous rules. As long as you pay your rent on time and maintain the property, that is all that matters.

I would suggest sitting down with her and telling her that you realize she has several rules and you would appreciate it if she could give them to you in writing. That way any future problems will be stopped before they begin. You could also just tell her that as long as you are paying your rent and maintaining the property properly, she should stay out of your lives. Owning the property doesn't give her the right to butt into your life on a regular basis -- THAT IS WHY YOU PAY RENT!!

You should know that she can't just "evict" you on a whim. It usually takes a couple of months and some legal wrangling, depending on the state laws.

You have 3 choices:
1. Ignore her
2. Move
3. Make her nuts
She cant evict you easily for anything other than non payment of rent. If you wish to protect yourself, then take a picture of each thing she complains about each time. Do it in front of her. When she asks what you are doing, tell her collecting evidence for the eviction trial. should drive her even crazier.

Keep looking,. technically since she's the landlord she can do what she wants. You can try to get a peace order but I'm not sure how it would work since she's your landlord.

Go to a realtor and see if they can't work with you. Ours did and we were able to buy a house and get away from our freak a$$ neighbors!
