NO you are not divorced. The decree needs to be signed and dated by the judge before it is official. Just because you had a court date doesn't mean the divorce was final on that day.

You're not divorced till the ink is dry on those papers and sitting pretty in a nice frame on your wall!!!!
I would wait if there is any chance he could prolong this and come after any new assets you may acquire now...check with a lawyer however. Often your lawyer can have the judge issue a time limit for him to reply and if he doesn't the judge can just give you the divorce. But I'm not sure what your laws are there.

I went through a divorce 3 years ago myself. I am not sure but I think it isn't official until the judge actually signs it. It sounds crazy to me that the lawyer hasn't even submitted it if your court date was in July.

It does not sound like you are legally divorced yet. I don't think your divorce won't be considered final until a year after your file date. You should still be able to purchase a home despite the decree not being signed yet.

In most states you are not divorced until the judge signs the decree. I would wait to buy the house until you have the signed papers in your hand.

You are not divorced until you receive the final decree, signed by the judge.

Your lawyer owes you some money back...he is NOT doing his job. Report him to the bar association of your state. Good luck...oh, and by the way, you are still married until those papers are signed by the judge. Your lawyer has opened up a law suit by you for not doing his job. I think I would remind him of that today!

If you have filed for divorce already then the house you want to buy will not be included in it. Any judge will notice that the divorce proceedings started before you bought the house, it doesn't have to be offically over.

Without that judge's signature on those divorce papers, no you are not yet divorced. Hold off on buying that house until you have those divorce papers signed, sealed and delivered in your hands.

In Oklahoma, until the Judge signs the final decree, it is not final and you are not divorced.
