I am not sure from which country you belong and what kind of teaching degree you have and at what level you are teaching.

Let me take example of India assuming that you have B. Ed. degree and are teaching at secondary level.

Job in bank are good however if you are starting at teller level atleast in India, it will take a long time rise up in ladder and then there will be limited scope of growth as people with good commerce/ economics or MBA degree will come at higher level and they will grow.

Now what is the way in case you want to come in Banking. At least in India best bet is to go for Probationary Officers exam - This will give a good place to start with, then you can learn more and rise.

In case you are in other country still I would suggest that get some good course/ diploma and then try to fit little bit higher then teller.

In India CAIIB is a good certification to acquire.

Being a former teller myself I can tell you that it isn't the worst job in the world. However, if your aspirations are climbing the corporate ladder focusing on that can help. If you're good at helping people you won't be a teller for long.

A banking career is always good as people will always need financial services . It is really re cession proof although alot of the banking jobs are now being doone by computers . It is a rewarding job and if you are good advancement is rapid and you will get richly rewarded .

Can be.. but may not be as creative as teaching can be. If you prefer the adult-filled world of business, numbers, customer service to teaching and a room of kids... might be for you.
