Short answer - I am not worried. If we let this completely disrupt our lives, then the terrorists have won.

In the long run I am scared for all freedom loving or seeking peoples of the world.
Islamic extremists are the worst scourge that the earth has had to endure during my lifetime - potentially far worse than the Nazis (although that was before my birth).

Hell, yes. Our economy and our way of life is dangerously dependent on foreign oil. We're also heavily in debt as a nation, in our goverment spending, as consumers, and in our inability to pay for social security. This could be a problem if foreign creditors stop loaning us money and the value of the US dollar declines. Meanwhile, other countries (like India and China) have been growing economically and are becoming serious competitors on the world markets.

Then there are all the potential nightmare scenarios, like global warming run amuck, or terrorists getting a nuclear bomb and exploding it in DC.

So, there's plenty that can go wrong for the US. Although this question seems to be about terrorism, I'm actually not all that scared of terrorists (except in the nuke scenario above) -- events like 9/11 are scarier in terms of the way we react to them than in the damage they actually do. Yes, 3000 people dead in those attacks is horrible (I personally knew three of them), but there are 250 million of us -- those deaths, in and of themselves, didn't stop America. The real risk, as far as terrorism goes, is when we enact heavy-handed policies that harm innocent people and create more anger towards us. Witness the experience of the Russians on Chechyna...

I am not scared for America. I fear for the whole world if the world does not recognize the need to defeat extremist Islam. This is NOT just about the U.S., U.K., Israel or any other country. It is about the whole world, including Russia that supplies Muslim nations with weapons.

The French are still trying to figure out when to surrender, but that is another topic.....

I'm concerned for the ppl here but not for the country. We've survived worse than a bunch of lunatic muslims and we will continue to survive. The only real threat to America is America itself.
