A garage sale will never make "killer cash." Garage sales are what people do to get rid of stuff, not to make a profit. You can't get market value for goods that way.

The more people you can draw to your sale, the better. Advertise in the paper, and put up signs. If you can do a "multi-family" yardsale, more people will show up. Display your stuff well, use folding tables to make it easier for people to browse and have a wide variety of stuff. Decorative stuff and knick-knacks sell easier than clothes.
