William WIlberforse walked to the english pariament every day quoting Psalm 119 and worked tirelessly year after year to end slavery and at the end of his life he did, with the help of his friend Wedgewood who made a special plate with a slave on it that said 'i am a man and a brother' Wilberforse was an evangelical. What other religious political figures worked to end slavery and are there any we can site in Islam, Judaism or other?

I'm seeing mostly Christian figures and also Moses a Jewish figure... any figures from Islam or other faiths??

You should read "Without Consent or Contract: The Rise and Fall of American Slavery, 2 volumes, 1989." by Nobel Prize winner Robert Fogel. His central thesis is that evangelical Christians were primarily responsible for the abolishion of slavery. Those evangelicals formed a loose political alliance with anti-immigration nationalists to form a new Republican Party that ultimately lead to the freeing of the slaves. He discusses numerous polticians involved in that process.
