Because they're brave behind the shield of the anonymity of the Internet. They don't realise that there is still a live person with feelings on the other end who may be affected by the insults and negativity - or they know and don't care.

There are many reasons for this. Try not to take it to heart. I think most of them would rather judge others than taking a good look at them selves.
