This is an excellent question. The word "Gossip" itself comes from the combination of "Go Sip", when an employer would send a spy into the local pub after work was done for the day. The spy would sip his drink slowly, then return to tell the boss what his people were saying about him after work.
Nowadays, those who gossip tend to do so for the feelings of self-importance it lends them. Having absolutely nothing better to do seems to entitle them to pass along information; the more sensational the better.
Gossips are reincarnated as pigeons.

NOthing....ppl find ways to please themselves by making fun of someone and gossiping...
You are not boring, even you may have gossiped sometime back...u don't remember. Don't feel dishearted, go your way..make urself stand...n you will be HOT among gossipers..they won't ever try to get gross with ya.. Make a friend good one, out of the gossipers, who gossips less but knows what they gossip. it can help too..but most of the times not.

people like to gossip because when they talk bad things about people, they feel they're better (or so they thought). I don't think not gossiping = boring.

I was just about to ask the same question about TV. Or maybe promises by politicians. Or maybe rants by fundamentalists and athiests. Or maybe opinions.
