I think that maybe they just want to follow the crowd.

Good question! I like celebrities too but I'm obsessed. I would think that when people watch there shows or read the tabloid magazines they think that they know every personal detail about that person. So then they want to share there feelings. Personally I don't think I'll start making good or bad judgments on a celebrity until I meet then and get to know the "REAL" them.

I think they are just using the media to determine their opinion of the celebrity. I personally don't understand the obession. My response is usually, "this celebrity seems like a nice person" or "this one seems like a freak" that way I don't act like I know them but I can still use the perceived description of the celebrity to determine how much I like or dislike them.

Even the best actor in the world can't really hide the fact that they are a creep ,if they are, with all the interviews that they do. So you do get a little idea of what they are like. If you don't get obsessed good for you but there is a mental illness called OCD that makes it so some people have no choice in the issue.

Fans like little bits of what the person is all about.... Maybe they like them because the way they look, the good things they have done.. and how they present themselves. Of course people do not know celebrities in a personal level, but what attracts them is their overall presence.
I bet once we get to know a certain celebrity.. we might have different feeling about them.

People think that money buys happiness and people get excited at the thought of BEING a celebrity. Everyone wants to be more than they are. Jealousy is a strong motivator.

some things get to peoples heads, like when people say, "dreams really do come true" they believe it so they dream that they're gonna meet the celebrities and they say that they're gonna be famous someday. it's america we're talking about here, so give em a break. i like celebrities too, but i don't go around asking for emails, phone #s, or screennames

guess it's more of the desire that they want to be just jike them.. you know, popular, successful, lucky, pretty etc.. but sometimes, obsession starts from sort of knowing something about the celebrity that you never knew.. like you just found out that he/she's this funny person behind the camera.. or she/he's really fun to be with and down to earth and not a snob. then people start thinking, 'holy crap, he/she's amazing..'
but i guess it's more of wanting to live that person's life.

Because they are really cool and nice. Chuck Norris for example is the coolest and the nicest person around but don't get on his bad side though if you don't want to get roundhoused on the face. But all of those peeps who gets roundhoused deserve it.

I think lots of guys and girls do that to show off or they have no life of their own, so they live in a fantasy world. It's not that I don't love celerberties it's just that I'm not like obsessed with them!

Because they see celebs on talk shows and in magazines and they believe what they see/hear. and also, sometimes the characters celebrities play on TV reflect on what the fans think about them.
