I am a fast food working teen...let me just say, I DO NOT recommend it. I mean, if you can't find anything else, it's not that bad, and it really depends on your boss and stuff, but I don't like my job that much.
I would imagine that a job in retail would be a lot better.
Good luck!

I worked in a drug store in high school and that was pretty good, I would suggest a place like like Walgreens or CVS instead of one of the discount chains because they seem to treat their employees better.

lifeguard. . .you can spend your days poolside or at the beach, your uniform is a bathing suit, you can work on your tan and the pay is pretty good. It's not too hard to find classes to get certified--sometimes it can be done in a weekend. Also, if you can teach swimming lessons, you typically make more money.

restaurant...
i started working at a restaurant for a summer job when i was 12 and started at $6.00/hr, with 25 cent raises every paycheck (twice a month)

i continued it for a long time going up to $13.00/hr. it was fun.

a restaurant teaches you hardwork, ways with money, patience, lots of teamwork... and on and on. some of the most important jobs are when you start working as a teen.

good luck.
