My sister had to give up her tax return to the trustee. She got a letter today stating the trustee filed his final report and the balance on hand is $5,873.10. Total Disbursements are $0.00. Does this mean no one wanted any of the $$? What happens to the $$ sitting there? The trustee has already retrieved his $$ out of it. This would sure help her as a single mom now if that $$ was returned to her. Anyone been through this and gotten $$ back? (don't be a$$ holes and tell her to pay her bills, this is because of a nasty divorce and not because of not paying bills) ONLY FACT'S PLEASE!!!

If the creditors did not file a proof of claim, your sister should eventually get the money back. If the case has been discharged, she should contract the trustee's office to see when the money will be returned.
