Since there are US Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine, Coast Guard and National Guard teams, does that mean we taxpayers pay for their sponsorships?

They are sponsors of the car!

Technically speaking, yes! These are taxpayers dollars used to sponsor teams, but it can also be looked at as advertising. Some people might look at this as wasted money, but sponsoring a race car in Nascar is a good investment to get exposure for your product/business, in this case promoting recruiting!

Whether it is money well spent is a good question, I'm a huge Nascar fan, but I'm also a taxpayer and hate to see the money wasted...it would be interesting to see the number of recruits signed because they saw a Nascar ad!

Yes taxpayers are footing the bill to sponsor these cars,It is a well know fact that NASCAR sponsorship delivers a huge bang for the advertisers buck.I often wonder though how effective these sponsorships are in recruiting young men and women to sign up for a chance to die in the service.Full season sponsorship of a NASCAR Cup team is upwards of ten million dollars per car.So to sponsor all these teams is somewhere in the neighborhood of 70 to 100 million bucks!! Now there is no bigger fan of NASCAR than me,but as a taxpayer I would like to know if sponsoring these cars is really helping to increase enlistment for the armed services,I know a hundred million is not a huge number when your talking about the Federal Government but if this money is not doing what it is intended to do I think it should be discontinued. Now most of you folks who answer these NASCAR questions know that I love NASCAR so if you disagree please don't handle me too rough OK.There is already way to much money wasted in government as it is we don't need em to waste anymore even on something I care so much about.

in a round-a-bout way. each branch of the armed services has a yearly budget for recruting. this is just one of the ways to try and reach new recruits, and according to officials, it has been very affective. but even if they were not sponsoring NASCAR, they would still be spending the same amount of money on recruting, they would just be spending it somewhere else.

Yes, in the same way we are paying for the "Be all that you can be" and "An army of one" television campaigns. We also pay for the fliers given to high school students. And the rent on the recruitment centers.

this has been asked and answered..
figuratively speaking.. yes, since all of the money for the armed forces is from the government..then yes..
however, you can not put a dollar on what those teams do for the troops in those armed forces..so let's worry about something else, eh?

Yep.

And I don't like it. I don't blame NASCAR for taking it, but as a taxpayer and Libertarian, it upsets me to see the money being spent like that.

I am not american(Canadian) but you are right, you do pay through your taxes, but it is something to be proud of, you could look at it this way, You help pay for these cars that makes you part of the sponser, or part owner in a very small way.

Even if we are paying for it, if they stopped sponsoring the car, you wouldnt see more money come back to you. The amount is so insignicant in the long run. They will just find some other media to advertise through.
