Great question! By far the best I've seen so far.

I suggest you just ignore her and go get an oriental massage w/ happy ending.

And have your paycheck sent to a separate (secret) bank account... lie and say you got fired.

Lol. Well, I hope you seriously would never consider actually strangling your wife. Have you ever been a smoker? If no, then it is hard to understand the need for the nicotine, even if it is a disgusting habit. I am trying to quit too, and let me just say I can be a real *****, my husband is trying to quit as well, the best thing is to try and stay out of each others way for a few days as the cravings will subside. But, if she needs you, be there, I know it is difficult, but you will both get through it..

I had the opposite problem. My wife wanted to strangle me when I quit smoking.

The best thing you can do is to tell her you love her and you support evrything she is doing. Help matters along to with carot and celery sticks. Buy her her favorite brand of chewing gum. Buy her a new perfume. Flowers. Anything to show how much you appreciate what she is going through to make her, and your, life better.

LOL...hang in there...think how nice it will be to breathe clean air again! Believe me...lung cancer is not a pretty thing...so remind her that her now black lungs will some day be nice and pink again! :~)

As a former smoker I will tell you it takes a good three weeks to adjust and start resembling a normal human being...and the cravings can come and go for a good 6 months after....but it won' be nearly as bad as it is now. It's all mind over matter.

But never, ever, ever assume she can pick up a ciggy and have so much as a puff...she will be right back to chain smoking within a week so never let that happen.

Have her go see a hypnotist to help her stop smoking. It worked for me without any of the withdrawl symptoms. I had a packed of cigarettes in my car for over a week after I was hypnotized and never once got the urge to smoke, finally I just tossed them. It's a hard habit to break, but it can be done without driving your loved ones crazy.

I would suggest you hide before she strangles you!
I am on my 10th day smoke free, and I would love to strangle my husband, or anyone else who gets in my way.

When she gets a craving just leave her alone. Go out of your way not to get in her way. It's not a pleasant thing to have to go through no matter how much you know it's good for you and guaranteed she's more miserable than you are. Have some compassion and forgive her. Shake it off.

Take breaks from her. When you start arguing leave for a little while. Are show her some affection and try to do something that she likes to get her mind off the cigarettes. Its easier to quit when you have something occupying your time and not around cigarettes.

Bite your tongue and remember that it's the withdrawal that's actually driving you nuts!
You can suggest that she take a walk to help her get past the craving moment, it worked for me, or you take a walk to avoid the situation.
Yelling at her will only discourage her and you don't want that.
I feel sorry for you, but good for her!
There are also several on-line support groups that may be of help to her and help get her though it.

Which is the less of two evils, her smoking & getting sick, or your trying to bare the mood changes to help her get through the steps she has to make to stop?
