How to reply to people asking us when we are going to get married?

Now that we have been together for over two years and have been living together for one year - friends, family, etc. are asking when we are going to get married what is a polite and appropriate repsonse? It seems to be getting asked by someone on a daily basis.

I used to get the same question alot to till I answered it with. NEVER things are fine just the way they are!!! We have been together for 12 years now, and things are GREAT. My mom always told me, don't fix it if it's not broke. We have a wonderful realationship just the way things are. And you know what,they stop asking.. Best answer I could have gave them.

Just answer "Probably Never!" It will shut them up quick and as long as you and your boyfriend know it's a joke then maybe you two can get a laugh out of it.

But when you do get married just be aware that the question will change to "When are you two going to have kids?"

Answer their question with a question: Why are you asking? That will put the ball back in their court and take the spot light off of you. It's not being rude. It's rude of people to ask question that are just none of their business and you shouldn't be made to feel like you have to answer them.

my BF and I have to deal with the same thing (we were asked by 6 different people in his family in one day) we just tell them we aren't ready yet and we will let them know when we are.
