Yes they can mistake the sex of the baby. The only foolproof way to find out what you are having is to have an amniocentesis test. This test tells you the sex and if anything is wrong with your baby.

Oh yes, friends of mine were expecting a girl, so the ultrasound said. They painted the room pink and bought all sorts of girly stuff, even had a shower directed toward a baby girl. Well, as you can guess, Michelle became Michael after he was born. The reverse happened to mutual friends the year afterward, but they were confident because the doc and the nurse pointed out the supposed male organ...and patrick became Patricia...so they are not 100%. Paint the rooms white, or light green, or yellow.

My sister just had a baby. She was told through the whole pregnancy that it was a girl. She was so happy and had numerous ultrasounds. In the last month a different doctor did another one and said that it was a boy. She was mad and had another doctor do another one. Well, this other doctor said no its def. a girl. Well, it was born last month and it was a boy. So she is mad but she has to take what she gets. But yeah.......she was told it was a girl the whole 9 months. And it was a boy.

NO. I have had 3 boys and 2 girls so far. And twin boys on the way. A penis cannot be thought of as anything but a penis.

I have been going to a good clinic for over 14 years. As they are all experienced techs, they've never gotten any of my babies wrong.

If they can't see for sure, a bad tech will just guess. A good tech will show you what they see, and prove that they have found the baby's gender.

My husband was was about 6 years old when his mom was pregnant with her second. From the ultrasounds they were told it was a boy, and tried to yet my hubby excited about his soon to be new little bro. But he insited that he prayed for a sister and it was going to be a sister. His parents were trying to find a way to break it to him that it was going to be a boy, and were worried that after the birth it would ruin his faith in God or something. On the delivery date, out came a baby girl to EVERYONE's suprise, and my hubby got to gloat for the rest of his life how he was right. So, yeah, it can happen.

Absolutely. My Dr said that girls usually get mislabeled as boys because the umbilical cord lots of times runs thru the legs and bulges in that groin area giving the illusion of boy parts. He said the technician or Dr have to look for the pulsing or throbbing of blood in that "boy part". If it is pulsing then you can assume that you are looking at an umbilical cord.

yes, happens quite often. usually due to incompetency of the u/s tech, or that the prediction is made too early. Best time is an u/s done about 20 weeks or later.

yes but most often you see boys that show up on an ultrasound as girls because they have their legs crossed to cover the gender bits.
