There is a theory that people generally fear either one or the other, but not both spiders and snakes. Can your comment support or disprove this position?

Spiders, I am deathly afraid of them even just a picture of one, or one on tv. But I have never cared for snakes and I am not scared of them. If I saw a poisinous one id be scared but in general I am not. My cousin is so scared of snakes the way I am of spiders. This thoery sounds correct to me.

Generally I do not fear either under normal circumstances. I don't officially have Arachnophobia but I tend to not want to be near spiders because I just find them to be creepy but I have no problem killing one provided it's not a large spider.

As for snakes I don't care much for them, in fact I prefer to be around them. I'm a guy that prefers reptiles as a pet. Although in the presence of a highly venomous snake or large constrictive snake I'm never not scared. Although I would stay more calm than the average person because like I said I don't fear them as much as other people.

I don't have a conscious fear of either but, like most human beings, I have an inherent fear of both. By which I mean that if I see a spider when I am not expecting to then I will have an automatic reaction and 'jump', the same with snakes. But I am happy to handle both when I am aware of their presence near me.
It is easy to learn to abate ones fear but we cannot overcome our primitive survival response without a great deal of training.

Fear is a product of ignorance - more precisely, a lack of knowledge. I understand both spiders and snakes, as well as other animals which evoke fear, including sharks, bees and wasps, and others. In most normal situations, I have no fear of any of these animals.

Obviously, in situations outside of the norm, like an injured animal, or a disturbed parent, there is always reason to be more aware of these animals, because they are dangerous. But understanding these animals can overcome any fear which would be evoked.

The spiders freak me out, any kind!
But I have no reason to be afraid of snakes, I have never met with dangerous snakes, so maybe I am but not at he moment!

I have a fear of spiders,
but snakes i can handle if they are tame, and don't startle me.
I just won't feed them anything that isn't already dead.

If you feed them something alive, then even in another room you can hear the animal scream as it is being eaten, so
Yeh-know........

The theory is a mere superstitous belief. Both are dangerous but snake is more deadly as it can charge & attack from a distance by spitting on someone. But u can easily attack a spider or use insecticide on it.

I don't like either, but I hate spiders! I will kill them as soon as I seem them. With snakes, I'm more fascinated by them and won't kill them unless they are poisonous.
