What do trees have to Jesus in the first place? I hate to answer a question with a question. The tree thing all started when the catholics were trying to convert the Druids. They were tree-worshipers, and instead of telling them not to do this, the catholics merely made an excuse for them to continue worshiping trees and somehow tied it in with Christmas. How Dec. 25 became Christ's birthday; who knows,

Because the tradition started with real trees. At the time tho you had to go out and cut your own in the woods. I love real trees. The smell, the fact we picked it together every year, the way it looks. However I don't like the shedding, I used to tear up a vacum even after I sat on my hands and knees picking up needles. My youngest son is allergic to the real ones now so I HAVE to have an artifical one. Was a real ***** to put that one up last year and have to take it back down the next day and put up a fake on because he looked like one big red itchy rash.

We always put up a fake tree because we put our tree up on Thanksgiving night. Christmas is our time of year and we like to celebrate it for as long as possible.

I don't know. My family loves going out and getting a real christmas tree but my sister is allergic so now we can't have real christmas trees. My family on christmas before we start opening up presents somebody in my family reads the christmas story, every year it is somebody different. I guess you could call this a tradition of my family.

Ive used a fake tree for years, easier clean up, nothing to water, easy storage and set up. Ill never use a real tree even though my fiance does. But the cats and dog will distroy it. It's not cheating either, I think of it as saving the forests.

Then meaning of Christmas is the birth of jesus and family and friends

The tree thing has NOTHING to do with Jesus it was started with the ancient pagans celebrating the original Christmas called Yule. They used pine boughs to decorate their homes and represent the Holly king.

I'm good with having a fake dead tree in my living room and a real live tree growing someplace else. No reason to kill a tree for just a week or two of decoration. If you have to use real green stuff, why not a wreath of branches? Good for you, good for the 'donor'.

Who cares what they think? I'm an atheist. I celebrate 'yuletide' and have a tree because I like to. My tree is fake because I think it's a waste cutting down a living tree to decorate for a week or so.
You have to think for yourself, not let others do it for you.

possed to be about family Jesus and togetherness. the whole "act" of cuttin down tree blah blah blah is some traditional stuff put in our heads. we arent allowed to take a chit w/o the government knowing. life is not what it used to be so there goes the "spirit" of christmas.
