I usually wear a nice outfit to interview but I really only have that kind of attire for winter clothes.
I had a job interview at a casual resturant for a server position on Monday. I just wore jeans and a t-shirt. The manager and I really hit it off and she loved me...basically said that she had to go over it with her co-managers but would most likely offer me a job.
The next day she called back for me to come in for a second interview with the general manager. I'm thinking that this interview is basically just to offer me the job and have me fill out my paperwork. Should I wear something nicer or does it really matter??? I mean I'm doing my hair nice and its a cute t-shirt I have to wear. Do you think my attire will matter if it is just casual?

Well just got out of the interview. Wore jeans...high heeled sandles...and a baby doll t-shirt.
It was fine and completely casual....we talked about music and then he said since the other manager loved me so much he would like to offer me a job.
I should have never asked this question since I study business and know all there is to know about interviewing. After all the interviewing I've done I find that if you are going for a low level job like a server in a casual resturant...tis fine to wear jeans.

If you are meeting the general manager, wear something nice. They will appreciate you putting the effort out-- even if it's just jeans and a nice shirt, or a cute skirt and a shirt. DO NOT wear a t-shirt to a job interview!!!

A general rule when attending a job interview is dress conservatively. Try and pair of nice dress pants, and a cute top, nothing that's too revealing. All of my jobs have been in retail, so as long as you're dressing reasonably conservative, you should be fine. You're hair can be worn up, or down, as long as it's not all in your face so that you have to adjusting it every 10 minutes. Make up is something that should never be overdone. Not too much, just enough to show that you do have some on, and you take pride in your appearance. If you get the chance before you're interview, go back to Kohl's and see how other workers are dressed, that might also help in deciding. :o)

Well obviously I hope you are not wearing the same tshirt you wore a couple of days ago...wear jeans with a more dress up shirt. I wouldn't go in there acting so cocky about getting the job either.

I think you should wear something nice. It is very unprofessional to go to a job interview in jeans and a t-shirt even if it is a casual restaurant.

I think that in order to make a good impression on the follow-up, you should dress in a manner similar to the wait staff on a typical evening. If, for instance, they wear dress shirts over slacks with an apron, you should skip the apron but wear a dress shirt. Forget about jeans, unless that is common wait staff clothing.

Think dress pants and a button up top. If you're going to be a server you'll be wearing something similar, so it's good to play that up and show them how good you're going to look in their uniform. Do your hair professional but simple and keep the make up toned down and they'll love you.

Yes i think that it does, A first impression is important, but an impression on the higher up is taken more seriously. I would suggest a more formal attire. The upper management is not looking at you the same as your first interview.
They are looking at you as someone who is going to be representing them as a whole.
Good luck!

In any interview, you want to put your best foot forward. Maybe perhaps this second interview is to decide between yourself and the next best candidate for the job. You would want to look your best wouldn't you? What you wear is up to you, however, I would try to be/do my best.

A "Rule of Thumb:" Dress as though you work there already. In other words, if the servers at this restaurant wear polo-like shirts and Khakis, where something similar. GOOD LUCK WITH THE NEW JOB!

yes, it always matters. it shouldn't but it does. People don't take you as seriously. Wear something a little better, like what you would expect someone working at the restaurant would (see what the employees wear). Don't go overboard, just something nicer that a t shirt. Then walk in like you are already hired.
