My father and I are at the beach today and were body surfing. He smashed his head into the sand now says that his left arm has a burning feeling and that his fingers are numb. Also he said that his back is stiff. I belive that he has some nerve damage. Can anyone tell me what happened to my father?

There's too many nerves involved in what he did and I hope he got to a doctor. The spine is some way involved in this and the spine can be difficult to diagnose. Then his doctor will send him to a specialist and for CT scans, MRI, xrays, blood tests, etc., to get an accurate diagnosis and treatment.

He might as well has a squeezed nerve due to the impact. Or even a worse hidden injury. If it's not getting better very soon, I would tell him to get seen by a doctor for an x-ray or something like that.
