Its all personal preference and there is no right or wrong answer! I wish people would just move on from these topics, there will always be controversy as long as we talk about them!

How does it affect YOU if someone gets an abortion, how does it affect YOU if someone believes in Religion or not?? It doesn't!

People don't understand that the issues are NOT about abortion, or about religion. They are about a woman's right to her privacy, and the separation of church and state. People's passions cloud the real issues, so we spin our wheels trying to debate...we aren't debating the same things! Why people want to change the constitution, or change established law of the land is beyond me...

Because there are people who believe in absolutes and black and white.
For instance, YOU think it's opinion. Other people believe, no, there is a TRUTH out there.
Anyhow...I don't care. If people want to ask questions that are really them airing their opinions/facts/beliefs and reward the person whose answer is closest to what they believe, so what? Why do you care? And what's wrong with controversy, anyway? It's better if people keep polite, but this is the Internet, so I know it won't happen.
And about abortion, if you neighbor is abusing her four year old child, wouldn't you call the cops? Even if her actions are directly hurting you, I'd hope that you would.
Even if it "just" their opinion that a fetus is equal to a child, they are still obligated to do something to defend that child. So, just realize that even the simplest issue has at least two sides. Ones as complex and emotional as abortion and religion have thousands.
Thanks for that question, it was a good one, even if I'm not sure I agree with you.

Because most people have a strong feeling about one side. Pro-lifers believe that we are talking about a baby's life, so they feel the need to fight for what they believe in, and Pro-choicers believe that we are talking about a women's choice about her body, and believe that if women can't make that choice, then all the rights that women have fought for all these years aren't really there. Both these people believe strongly in one side, and it is a VERY important issue. If Republican says something, then Democrat is going to comeback with a rebuttal. That is just how life works. That is how America works. We have the right to argue what we believe in and not just sit there and be oppressed.
The religion part of this question is easy to explain. All religions believe that they are the true religion and they also are taught to go out and convert others. So obviously you are going to have conflicts because if there is one thing that people believe in the strongest, it is religion.
Of course there is no right or wrong answer. Most topics that we talk about in Yahoo Answers don't have right or wrong answers. And isn't controversy good. That is what chat rooms like this are made for. Where people can openly express there views and have the chance for there views to be challenged. And in the end, all this controversy teaches us about other's views and how to respect what others think. And if we don't talk about them and just let them sit, then our children's children will someday have to deal with our problems. remember, the US Civil War was fought because a bunch of people in the late 1700s and the early 1800s didn't like the controversy, so they decided to try and forget it and not talk about the conflict and learn the other's perspective. If we don't talk in this peaceful arena, then these issues are going to be solved in a more horrifing and bloodier arena.
Hope this helps.

I hate to break it to you....but there always will be a right answer!!!! They way your talking, for me to walk down the street and kill my neighbor would be my own "personal preference", it would not be wrong!!!!
If you cannot acknowledge that there is a God and that religion does matter than i think you need to spend sometime thinking about how we could end up being alive, with so many amazing things around us!!!!!
I think many people don't want to move on because they are important topics to them, but i can definately understand your annoyance with hearing them over and over!!!!! And i also agree that there will always be people on both sides of the arguement!!!!
However, to restate what i said earlier, there is always a right and wrong answer but what it comes down to is what we think or what we know is the right answer for us!!!!
May the force be with you!!!
"its NOT important, as i said personal preference! They are opinions not facts, beliefs not facts!
what makes you right?????? Just because thats what you think doesn't mean its a FACT!!! That's YOUr BELIEF!!!!! see your doing just what you don't want others to do!!!!

You have answered your own question. It's because they involve opinions, and can't be substantiated by facts and figures, and are controversial that they won't go away. They are subjects which make people think, and express themselves, and that is a good thing. We are all entitled to our opinions and personal beliefs. Be grateful we live in a place where these are rights and are not only tolerated but encouraged. If you are tired of these topics, ignore them and move on.

not only are these still controversial, but they are very important.
Life would be a lot different for you if you had been aborted - you wouldn't be asking. That's about the beginning of life. The other question is about the end of life - do you believe in heaven, an afterlife? hell? do you believe this is all there is and when you die you just rot? How you live your life is affected by these differences in belief. If you believe in heaven and want to get there, you live one way,, and if you believe that this is all there is you live another way.

I think it's good to keep these topics open for discussion. It makes people aware of other people's opinions and can open their eyes to things they didn't know before, on either side. There may not be a right or wrong, but there is nothing wrong with voicing your opinion and wanting feedback in return.

I agree that personal opinions are really not that important, particularly when the opinions are not well-informed and not well-thought out. What IS important when it comes to any issue are the facts. Anyone who is interested in the facts regarding abortion should check out http://Abort73.com

b/c for every cool person like you and me who want everyone to follow personal preference in these issues, there are those who wish to control others by passing laws limiting our personal freedoms. it is important that we keep discussing these issues so that our voices will continue to be heard and we do not lose what few freedoms we still have. look at gay marriage for example. what the heck is wrong with two consenting adults forming a culturally recognized, loving, and financial union? so, you disagree with that- why do you care? what harms are done by people who make choices that are different than ours- as long as they are not murdering others?
