Wow some people are taking this way too heavy, He was mearly stating the Irony. Of coarse he doesn't think all sports fans are homophobes. And yes many of Freddy's songs were about his life style. I think that was funny, He probably was talking about some of the haters that come on this site and not the population as a whole...

Mild irony, I suppose. It would be far more ironic if the song actually had some reference to homosexuality in it. It's not really ironic that a homophobe can appreciate something created by a gay man. Disagreeing with someone's sexual preference doesn't mean that you can't appreciate their talents. A white supremacist can still appreciate LeBron James' basketball prowess, and a homophobe can appreciate a good song (or at least situationally good) written by a gay man. Additionally, you may want to get your own self-righteous head out of your *** before you go ahead and make a blanket statement about sports fans being homophobes. "Pumped-up anger-mongers?" Give me a break.

*LOL* Now that is funny. So what you are saying is someone who is homophobic should be afraid of the music written by a homosexual? Why? It's music. It's words sung to music. I don't think they get an erection from listening to the song. What makes you think they are turned on?
It would make more sense for homosexuals to fear if they follow the lifestyle of Freddie Mercury they might catch AIDS.
And who do you class as homophobic? Anyone who doesn't condome or advocate the homosexual lifestyle? Get some professional help. You are a sick puppy. Maybe you need to see a veternarian.*LOL*

You're right, they shouldn't enjoy the music either. The problem is, they don't even know why they dislike gays!! Is it because they're ignorant or is it because they secretly fantasize about other men and they like to blame gay men for it!! How about the fact that they enjoy watching lesbian women go at it...; if being gay is bad, then they should feel the same way about lesbians! Men that hate homosexuals are usually very emotionally unstable individuals and they also have a tendency to blame the world for all their problems.
Bottom line; ignore them!!

You sound heterophobic too me. I don't like homophobes either, but I honestly don't feel the need in picking out certain stuff to pick fun at people, or find someones faults or something to annoy them, it's very immature.
Just because someone sings a song doesn't make them gay or straight.
And just because people sing the song doesn't mean they're homophobic.

Homophobes don't play that song, EVERYONE plays that song. Its a good song. Should heterosexuals discriminate against the group and not play it just because Freddie was gay? I'm sure you would want to cry about that then.

Well, this song is not really "Gay music" just because it is created by a band or an individual that is gay does not mean that everything that he or they produce is gay. They are people just like you and me, and they produce music, and if this band produced a hit that has become known the world over, then more power to him! We should however, not expect anyone to say... I am not going to sing that... The artist is gay... Break boundaries don't create them!

If they didn't sing it, you'd accuse them of being homophobic for not singing a song that was sung by a gay guy.
Personally, I don't like it when they crank up that song at sports events -- not because of Freddy Mercury being gay, but because they do it ALL THE TIME and it gets boring after a while.

What does one have to do with the other? Freddie Mercury was a talented singer and Queen had some great songs. But Queen's music isn't "gay" music!
Using your "logic," we must then demand that no homosexuals sing any "straight" music!
