Fidel Castro.
Not every country needs to run like the USA.
Many many Cubans are happy with what Castro has done for the
people of Cuba. and he has done many good things.
yes Cuba is a poor simple country. but there is nothing wrong with that.
Hemingway had a love for Cuba and Cuba's warm and friendly people. Ernesto CHE Guevara fought for the good of the poor people.
The US wants free trade there so that the US companies can take it over. Castro simply wants to avoid that and protect its citizens from outsiders.

I don't have a favorite, I like observing past leaders of other countries, from Frederick the Great to Napolean, to George Washington, to Adolf Hitler, to Franklin D Roosevelt, to Mikhail Gorbachev. To be ignorant of past leaders and how they got to power and their histories, is to be tricked into the future of uncertainty.

Barack Obama. Did you see/hear his speech at the Democratic National Convention? He is intelligent and has his heart and mind in the right place.
