I believe most of the mean ones are trying to get attention, jealous because your questions are better than theirs, or that is just their nature. But, picking 2 people as a comparison, may cause some problems and conflicts among some of the mean ones.
Ignore them the best you can. I know this will be hard to do, but keep in mind there are nice people on here.

That's an excellent question. I can't tell you how many times I've been insulted on this website. What is the appeal of anonymously insulting someone? I guess I may never understand. But just know that you're great and those mean people who feel like they need to insult you are most likely seriously deficient in some aspect of their lives. It's all compensating for something, you know? I love you, though. Be strong!!

When you sit down to your computer and go onto the internet, you have opened the door to the world. All kinds of people are out there and there is no promise that everyone will be nice.

Mean people are unhappy.
They are just unhappy with their job, thier parents, the fact that they have no girlfriend or boyfriend, their unhappy about how the weather is so hot / cold and how their favorite re-run of I Love Lucy was cancelled.
So try cheering them up next time.
Tell them, "Look on the brightside! Your favorite Gilligan's Island re-run might be on!!"
Or simply ignore them because they are THAT small. (Holding forefinger and thumb very close to each other)

Like anything else, when given the opportunity to act "invisibly", most people reveal their true nature unbridled. Unfortunately, some are truly mean, cruel and thoughtless, but some are kind, compassionate, and humorous. Just the luck of the draw, I guess.

Because I can say anything at all that I want without reprecussions other than possibly having my Ask-Yahoo access removed. Even if that happens I could get another yahoo adress in seconds. The format here doesn't encourage debate or criticism of your Answers as there is no way to reply to an answer or contact an answerer. it's a situation ideal for people who like to spout out objectionable material without reprise.

Just like everyday life you'll run into some who are mean spirited and some who are truly nice. Ignore the former and enjoy the latter.

It just depends on the person. People like Trolls, seriously either don't have a life and this "interactive" forum makes them feel like "somebody". People like Judas don't feel the need to elevate their own ego by putting someone else down. For every Judas there are about 3 Trolls... just try to look at it like, trolls are funny little people with no imagination and nasty breath.

well, i know that some people are expressing their opinions, like say if you're talking about bands and you say one sucks, it's not exactly mean. and then again some people could be joking and you may nnot know it. but yeah, i agree that some people can be such @$$holes on here! and some are really nice just to talk to!

Character and intellect. These are the two poles of our capacity; one
without the other is but halfway to happiness. Intellect is not enough,
character is also needed. On the other hand, it is the fool's misfortune to
fail in obtaining the position, employment, neighborhood, and circle of friends
of his choice.
