Diego Maradona was a dead left footer,he had no right foot.Furthermore he was merely a good player among the average.Pele on the other hand used both feet and shone brightest among a galaxy of other stars and legends.

as a maradona fan, i can definitely say that pele was an amazing football player. one of the best in the world. however, saying someone is the greatest is purely subjective. everyone will have their own opinion.

the question is when will pele fans acknowledge the fact that maradona was amazing, also one of the world's best?

personally, i think maradona and pele are the two best football players ever and no one can compare to these two. but do we always have to pick one over the other?? cant we just say they are both the best the world has ever seen??

exploradora makes a great point too.

Maradona fans will never back down. Both Pele and Maradona had great players surrounding them. To say that Pele barely played in the World Cup is a gross understatement. Or was it some other 17 year old scoring against Sweden in the 1958 final? Pele was like a gazelle out on the open field and Maradona was a little unstoppable locomotive just leaving defenders by the wayside. Despite his "Hand of God" goal, Maradona clearly was the spark plug for Argentina in 1986. But Pele is El Rey Pele, period. He never needed to basically cheat in order to score and for that one reason alone, El Rey Pele is the greatest soccer player we have ever seen. Diego, Dieguito, is a very close second.

When will the fans of Pele accept the fact that Diego Maradona is the greatest?

maradona was the star among a bunch of average players.
don't forget that it was through him that Argentina became the champs in 1986.

Maradona is simply the greatest, Pele had great players around him to make him look even better, Maradona was great and made players around him look great if it wasn't for Maradona Argentina wouldn't of won the WC 1986, and Pele didn't even play most games in his first two WC.

Who cares if he is a role model or not, Maradona is the greatest ever. He can be compared to the Great Zidane, but as for Pele, he isnt even in Maradona's league. Maradona has the greatest goal of all time and he made his teammates look good, and as for Pele, he already had good teammates.
