A dome loaded regulator is fluid dynamics equivalent of an electronic transistor. To explain this mechanical device is a bit difficult while its basic operation is very simple.
These regulators perform both reduction in pressure and input or output pressure regulation.

The design also depends on applications such as control of input or output pressures.
