I have the strange feeling that you mean "shift" work. This is work that is done throughout the 24 hour day and broken into three 8 hour sections each done by a different person. e.g. 8 to 16.00 16.00 to 0.00 and 0.00 to 8.00

If you mean the power transmitted through a motor or driveshaft, it is the actual power transmitted to the universal joint after all losses from the engine and the transmission are deducted.
