I'm in the FL Keys, and I'm not bragging by far, but it's been in the high 80's low 90's with a nice ocean breeze. It's not so bad as friends of ours from Michigan say it's sweltering up there! I truly feel bad for you guys that aren't used to such warm temps. That's why people live where they do in the summer months, then travel down here in the winter. I guess it is global warming, it makes sense. I honestly haven't seen enough effort from the world as far as saving the planet goes. More do harm than good. About the rain, we've had quite a bit more rain than last summer. It's weird how things are opposite, huh? Keep cool and drink lots of water!

Southeast B.C. Canada here: it is definitely a hotter than normal summer so far, yet much less forest fire smoke. We had a wet spring so our water supplies are holding up. But we are not used to so much heat for so long. Temps have gone over 100 on my thermometer in the shade several times. I remember in the 1950's and 1960's some long hot summers like this, with very hot weather from May thru to October. I think it goes in cycles, as we have had generally cool and rainy springs and summers for the past several years. Last summer was the coolest in my memory! As far as water goes, there have been many years with a lot less water. Our planet is going to be just fine!

It's been a hot summer in the arid western regions.
Although...I can't really compare hot and dry with hot and humid. There's a big difference. Humidity makes it worse. Ugh.
And there's a lot of inter-state water rights things going on, what with California needing more water for their crops, and a few of the other states also leeching off of a lot of the rivers. It makes summers harder on a lot of people.
There isn't a day since the beginning of June when the temperatures have been lower than 95. It averages out at about 102 degrees F. Nastiness. It's almost like winter, but without the cold. Dry heat, dry cold. *shrug* You can't win around here.
I'm coming from the Idahoan perspective. And almost every summer is like that here. Whenever anyone needs water for agricultural urposes in a few other states (Including Utah and washington) they take water from the rivers and resivors in Idaho...

This has been an evil summer except the past couple of days here in NY. We've had two choices of weather - hotter than the hobbes of h*ll with 100% humidity or raining. Since this past Monday it's been bearable here. Today's a little humid, but we're supposed to get a thunderstorm tonight that'll fix it in time for the weekend.
I'm afraid of what this winter is going to be like!!!!

I live in Texas so you better believe all of our flowers and plants are dead. My husband and I spent a lot of time and money last year preparing our backyard for this year. Everything in my garden, except for my tomatoes, died. We have 6 flower beds and the only flowers left are 2 hibiscus plants and my rose moss and they are not looking too good right now.

Same thing happening here in the South. ( Birmingham, Alabama)
I am a bit older and I don't remember it being this hot and rain free.
Although it is getting better and better. We are having a nice few days of thunder storms.
As to the reason why we are having this??
WHo Knows.

Our summer here in PA has been odd. We've had a few heat waves with temps over 100 degrees, but we also had some serious flooding here as well.
