Need to know if it's an automatic or Manual Transmission.
If it's an automatic, is it 3 speed or overdrive?

Now that I know it's an automatic, is the engine light on, or the overdrive light on? If so, I could be as simple as a shift solenoid problem. But It also could have high clutches worn out inside the transmission. And depending on which transmission it is, Chevrolet had a problem with the transmission cases warping, and you'd have to replace the case.
Need more info to decifer which.

has to be an electronic sensor on the transmission... I bet its automatic... which eliminates the clutch problem... try after second gear loosing the foot of the accelerator and then deaccelerate again... that might throw the gear in... it aint gonna be fixed by itself so take it to a transmission shop... might need adjustment only.

Transmission modulator malfunction or a loose vaccuum line to it. Unless it is electronically controlled, then it would be a PCM (powertrain control module) or a VSS (vehicle speed sensor)problem, or a loose connection.

that's beacause your derailleur (the mechansm that strikes to alter the gears) isn't top located. so as to repair this, you will could lossen the screw attaching the derailleur to the cable. after this, you the two could pull/tightnen or lossen the cable to its perfect length. then, screw the bolt back in, with the cable below it, and it could have the means to alter gears back. yet, do no longer think of that's hassle-free, adjusting the cable is an exceptionally annoying element to do, you are able to could regulate many cases formerly you get your perfect placing.
