When I run my vacuum,it emits a "dusty" odor.Why is this?How do I eliminate it?

You can buy scent packs for your vacuum almost everywhere. Try walmart. They smell great. I would also recommend replacing or cleaning your filter. Maybe there's a hole in your hose, too...

Clean it well! I take mine apart every 3 months or so, take Pinesol & a rag wipe down everything I can get to inside, and wash the filters & collection cup (this is a bagless, you may have to modify) in Pinesol & water in the sink. One important thing: clean the roller & brushes, too - these have have direct contact with carpets & get smelly the worst. Occasionally, I also spray Febreeze lightly on the filters & up the roller while running it. This is good to do every few times you run it. Hope that helped!

Have you tried emptying the bag? Sounds like an old vacuum to me. I don't think it's picking up very well, suction is going bad. Maybe time for a new one....

then sprinkle some cheap potpourri on the carpet--just a handful-vacuum up the potpourri-
then enjoy the scent
no need to buy the expensive scented vacuum pouches

change the bag and insert a new fabric softer sheet into the new bag before attaching it.......if its a bag-less vacuum you probably need to change the filters.
