he's boring to learn about. i had to act out a scene and it was hard to memorize because of his word choices. however, he's famous for a reason..so i guess we should know at least who he is.

I think you need to learn how to write, idiot. You don't understand The Bard because you most obviously, and painfully, do not have a grasp of the English language. THAT IS WHY YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO READ SHAKESPEARE!!!! William Shakespeare was the foremost social commentator of the English condition in his time. To not study his work is to ignore vast amounts of literary commentary and history.

If you would read his work and get a grasp of it, you would see just how contemporary he is. The man was a genius and ahead of his time. But it takes a bit of intellect to see that and todays generation just doesn't have it. That is another reason you don't understand Shakespeare.

Fie on those who would dis and ban The Bard of Avon!!

The fact that you can't even spell CHARLES DICKENS is astonishing and they do study him in school. I did. Have you not ever heard of "Great Expectations"? There was also Edgar Allan Poe, Kafka, Dante, Emily Dickenson and many others. Watch less tv, play less video games and spend some time a library actually reading a book.

Shakespeare was a great playwrite. Just because you are too ignorant to understand it doesn't mean others aren't.

right on! we should eliminate everything that causes students to think. Some can't quickly grasp mathematics, history, science, government studies, art, etc and therefore should be removed from schools. how can we relate to anyone past one minute in this day and age any way? academics is a farce
