Because he's batting over .300, he's got an incredible move to throw out base stealers, he's a team leader, and he's got the onions to tell A-Rod to act like he's hit a home run or two before.
I love the guy. I don't agree that he is a punk.

The media is partly to blame, because sportswriters love white guys who hustle, like Lo Duca, Erstad, Eckstein, et al. Maybe it's gone to his head now, because he really does like playing the tough guy - all 5'10" (generous) of him.
He had one good year with the Dodgers, and he's been getting by on that since.
