This belief is founded on heretical interpretations of the bible, and resulting from wrongful exegesis of the holly texts. (I know what you are thinking, that I am a fundamentalist, read on however, more is comming).
At a fundamental level, the torah (what you may know as the 'old' testament) consists of many levels of interpretations. Usually christian priests are aquinted only with the moral and/or anecdotic side of those stories. There is however a realm where everything which is in those tests may be interpreted on a more abstract way. Although I can not delve into the intricancies of such aspects let me just mention a couple of items:.
- Mankind pre-existed Adam and Eve, as Adam was married to Lilith before Eve. Amidst rabbinical scholars it is ofthen interpreted that Adam and Eve are the founders of the familly of prophets that would eventually create the Jewish people.
- At another level, Adam is Adama, i.e. blood, also eve may be linked to Nature. If you read between lines, there is nothing there contradicting evolution, unless of course you are not familiar with this level of truth.
- Man is in the image of G-d: This is to introduce a system of spirituality which sees man at a more abstract viewpoint, and not the other way around, i.e. as some people would falsely inteprete it, God being antrophomorphic (Rambam one of the greates Rabbis clearly states, whoever believes god is a man is heretical).
- The bible is NOT a history book, it contains RELIGIOUS texts with a complete phylosophy that contradicts what you would call common sense. However these phylosopies are so deep that can not be surpased easily (if such thing is possible) by say socratic thought for example. Of course the usual "biblibally based phylosophy" you may have heard about in the street is very silly and clearly contradictory...well, not the intention of the ORIGINAL texts.
In summary, whatever you believe the Bible states, it is likely a misrepresentation, or an illusion.

A conclusion from all of this?.
The universe does not exist, everything is a facade, an ilussion, is the game G-d is playing so you keep looking for him, dont worry!. Fill your heart with abayas, love from your maker, he is all trascendental, beyond nature, and he is not far away from you, rather his will is close at hand, next to you, looking trough all realities, so come on, its your turn, fall in love and awe to the greatness of blessed be he, and enjoy the ride :).

P.S. I am a physicist, I can asure to you that all the universe is full of empthyness, what you perceive as real is but a dream. I can COUNT on that :)

The bible is the only 'history' book that acurately depicts time and events of years passed that match up to archeoligical findings and discoveries of today. This logically assumes it can be a trusted source of information. Mankind co-existed with Dinosaurs as recorded in Genesis. What happened afterwards could be the effects of Adam's fall and the altering of relationship between God, man and the animal kingdom. This upsetting the earth and everything in it. Based on archeolgical facts the earth might not necessarily be as old as we think!

Some people are ignorant of the understanding that facts are facts because they have to be proven scientifically. because they dont understand science and wot is entails at all, they just believe whatever they are told, be it the bible or any other religion that contradicts facts.

Basically its ignorance as usual. These religions push blind faith which asks you to believe without thinking, because thats wot they need to gain power and money. If you are a thinker you are not welcome since you will not just believe something because your parents or religious group tell you to, which is wot these kind of people do. But science and religion dont have to contradict eachother, look for a book called Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, it will change your life.

Hum...I must have missed that passage.
I thought science found where an asteroid wiped out the life on earth when the universe was much younger?
So my question to you is, would you like to see a live Tyrannosaurus Rex?
If you were able to see a live one, would he see you as lunch or just a snack?

the bible contradicts itself too many times to believe it anyway. If it started with how the bible said it started then god made the earth in 6 days then rested on the 7th.

It also says that man was made on the 6th day.....if this was the case...how did we know about the 5 days before it?

The word "day" in Genesis does not mean a 24 hour day. Day can mean any length of time.
The day of harvest is an entire season.
In Churchill's day refers to his life.
Morning means near the beginning, and evening means near the end. Another word for evening is twilight, as in, in his twilight years.
So the bible account does not mean no dinosaurs allowed.

There is no comparison between what people believed then and what we know now.

Knowledge is the key to understanding.

Belief is the tool of the uninformed.

If you want to Know, then read a book.

If you want to Believe, then don't ask questions, it's as simple as that.
