I'd say the first human trait would be curiosity, then fear evolved. Like being curious about what's in that alligator's mouth and finding out that it's not a nice thing. Thus we have developed the emotional reaction of fear.

Emotions are merely instincts given names. You feel them based on innate interpretations of your environment. They do not evolve separately they are one of the strongest evidences of evolution.

Probably fear would be my guess because fear would evolve to other emotions like self preservation
