I think it's because dogs are usually innocent creatures and humans usually have it coming to them in the movie.

I know exactly how you feel, I am the same way. I think it is because animals are so innocent and do not commit hate towards others, they love you unconditionally no matter what you do and what you look like (unlike humans). They forgive and forget in seconds what may takes humans for years. This is the reason I felt I could not go to school to be a Vet Tech, I feel that I would get upset too easily when I could not help a dying animals or hold my tongue when a person brings in their neglected animal when it is far too late to save. So I choose to donate food, liter, and toys to my local shelter, donate money to the humane society, and take in animals I find left homeless, to get them medical attention and give them a loving home. I have had many animals over my life and have cried each time one of them has died, more than I have of a distant relative. XOXO

I think it is because we see so many times people die be it in movies or over the news channel that we are already desensitized by it. Truly, how many times have you seen a dog die?

It is also due to the fact that we have learned to judge people by the way they look, speak and act. So if you see someone you don't quite like die in a movie, you will probably not feel anything for that person especially when he is playing the role of a bad guy. Dogs on the other hand has, more often than not, proven to be lovable and hence whenever we see them die on the big screen we feel something for the. Besides how often does a dog get a chance to play the role of a big baddie? ;)

I agree with you. The people usually have a choice in the situation. I really hate movies where people are figting on horse back. I know it is just a movie- that is what everyone says- but how dod they film those scenes with the horses falling over and tripping and collapsing?? Yeah, I would much rather watch a human bite it than an animal.

I am the same way!!! Sometimes if I see that there is any animal staring in the movie, and they usually get hurt, I can not see the movie!
But I can watch movies with killing of humans!
Maybe because I'll see them in 15 min on TV very much alive

in all threat as a results of fact in video clips/books you have a tendency to bond with the animal greater and you in fact understand greater approximately it, while in actual life if an animal dies which you do no longer understand you won't be able to truly empathize with it very plenty. If it is your individual puppy and it died in actual life i'm optimistic the unhappiness you would be feeling could far outweigh the unhappiness felt from seeing an animal die in a action picture/e book.

Yeah I have the same problem. Like in the movie " Eight Below" I thought that movie was incredibly sad. But still a good one.

I'm there with you. My wife has banned me from seeing dog movies like Old Yeller, Air Bud, Eight Below, and Homeward Bound. The movie Fluke really did me in.

Even if the dog doesn't die, those flicks just kill me.

I feel the same way. Especially in the movie Ben Hur when the horses get hurt.

Nope. I've always felt sadder for animals dying in movies than humans. Don't know why, though.
