tama. it's really great. it's the full drum set, but you just have to put it together and buy other parts (like wood blocks ect...)!

it has all the main drums
three of the main cymbals
and pads cuz you'll annoy the crap out of everyone you live with, even if you're that good. trust me on this one!

you shouldn't let younger kids play with it either, not matter what your parents say. just get them like a little kids one at toys r us or something like that. they will ruin your set and you'll be devastated!!!

it really depends what kind of sound ur looking for. pearls are definatley the best since they cover so many different styles, but ludwig is a great company also. if money is no object though, go to http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Drums/Percussion/Acoustic/Drums?sku=447878. its a beautiful set.

It's a total preference thing here, the best one is the one YOU will enjoy. Go check out all the major brands and play em' and decide yourself - mostly what you'd get here is "_____is the best cause ______plays THAT kind"

ludwig, mapex, or tama. pick one, all of them will fall apart sooner or later, you are hitting them.
