Well, I have two children, one with a conventional name and one without. I hate conventional names but recently read an article where employees were evaluated and said when looking at resume's, they are more likely to discard one with a "different" or ethnic name, and that's before the interview. Basically, they don't give the interviewee a chance. So, think of your child as an adult, trying to get a job, or being someone's boss and see how the name works. I agree that it is ultimately your decision of course, but think of the child. I like Daniella but I see someone else are said that. Have you thought of Dayna? That's my best friend's name. Or Danica. ( Dan - ick- a or Da-neeka). Or Daniece. You can play with it ir even fuse your names together. I even had a friend named James who names his boy Semaj (Sa-ma-jay) which is James backwards. I don't think that's a good idea for Daniel, but play with it. Hopefully you have enough time to decide. Best of luck!!!

You can have unique names but i think that is a bit too unique!! Its also hard to pronounce. How about Dahlia? Its unusual and also very pretty. There are a lot of pretty unusual names beginning with D including Darla, Damara, Diandra, Diella..there a just a few that i can think of

Erm.. even with the explanation.. i find it reallyyyy hard to know if i've gotten the pronouncation right.. sorry about that. Hey, a name's for life. Can you imagine the trauma your daughter has to go thru for the rest of her life to describe how to pronounce her name? Also, just imagine if she takes part in American Idol.. hmm...

Yes its very ODD. all her life she will be confused with daniel, then they will think she is very weird. The "j" will look like an "l" to a notmal person, so she will be called Daniel all her life and she will spend it correcting people "uh... its daniej....that's...a....j......" (awkward silence) picture this for your daughter for ever.

It seems like it would be too hard to pronounce. But try it out on relatives and friends and see how they think it sounds and looks.

It sounds interesting, but your daughter will always have to be explaining how to spell and pronounce her name.
I might try something more conventional.
Sorry to be critical, but I have to be honest.
Congratulations on your wonderful family!
