Ice is good right after the injury. If it's been a day or more try a warm compress (run almost hot water on a washcloth, squeeze out the excess and apply to your face). Alternating the warmth with a cool compress (same as warm - use cool water) will help promote circulation and will get rid of the bruising faster. Low doses of Ibuprofin also help to heal bruising. Drink lots of water and just give yourself time to heal.

Take some St. Josephs Aspirin. It's low dosage enough that it won't be harmful.
A bruise is when the capillaries near the skin are broken and trace amounts of blood leaks into the surrounding dermal tissue. Your body will absorb some of the blood and it will be carried away by other veins/capillaries. Aspirin is a blood thinner that will help your body carry away the 'wasted' blood in a faster amount of time. Also, drink lots of water which will assist in flushing out the tissue.

Immediate pain-relieve is always cold-compress, i.e. ice-pack to relieve pain. Do not massage the bruise as this will cause more pain. Always use cold water to wash your face and dab some Roman Chamomile essential oil which is dilluted in jojoba oil to calm it. Bruises normally take a week or two to disappear.

Before you do anything else, have a doctor check you out to rule out any possible broken bones or concussion. If you are worried about swelling and bruising, there is a miraculous product on the market. It is a liquid, used to heal cracked skin and hands (from exposure to harsh weather). Its unfortunate name (but memorable) is Crack Cream. You can find it in most drug/large grocery stores. It contains arnica that prevents swelling, as well as glycerin and healing components. Do not put it too close to your eyes, but it is fine on the rest of facial skin.

Use an ice pack on it, take an anti-inflammatory like Motrin or Aleve on a regular basis, and just let it heal. It's going to take a while. Sorry to hear you got hit and hope you're feeling better.
