This is a catch 22. There is a statute of limitations on such cases, and it seems that very few attorneys handle this sort of case. My former landlords not only changed the locks on the house and storage garage while I was in hospital (broken ankle sustained while jumping from the smoking second story), but would not permit me to return. They destroyed or disposed of in some other way, nearly 100% of my possessions.

Call the info line and see if someone knows there. It is a free call from anywhere from CT. Just dial "211". This is 24 hour line that is partnership between the State and the United way to help out consumers. First of its kind in the country.

My advice is to speak to a lawyer and the best, most inexpensive way to do this is through Pre-Paid Legal Services. For more information visit the website below, and feel free to contact me through that site if you have further questions on how this service may be able to help you. I encourage you to find out what your rights and options are in this situation.

I wish you the best of luck.
