Most musicians and entertainers I know (including myself and my husband) want people who are versatile. If you want to sing, you have to be able to play at least one instrument, help set up, help with the sound, and not take off as soon as the gig is over! We want everyone to help strike. From my personal experience, "front men" have huge egos. They contribute to nothing. They don't write music, or lyrics, or play any instruments. Generally speaking, they are a colossal pain in the derriere.
My advise: learn to play an instrument and come with some ideas in the venue you are entering. Otherwise, you will be the most hated member of the band.

no. but if u need a lyricist, lemme know. plus, maybe u should make ur own group so you'll actually end up liking the ppl u work with & befriend them rather than get with a couple of strangers who'll probably just let you do back-up vocals
