Planes leaving the UK and flying to the USA would have had a large proportion of passengers from both countries. Some British tourists etc flying to the States but also a lot of Americans returning home from European Holidays, business trips etc. Do you think the terrorists were trying to strike at Britain or at America - or both countries? I'd say both.

I would be very careful of jumping to conclusions at this stage.
We know there are people prepared to blow up planes but the problem is that the police and the politicians have made so many mistakes and told so many lies even when they have shot innocent people in error that it is impossible to take what they say at face value without some sort of hard evidence.
If there is a plot, it is wonderful that nobody has been killed, but it could be a political manoeveur to distract attention from the Bush/Blair support of Israel's attack on Lebanon.

Terrorist attacks are symbolic acts, so always look for meaning in the choice of targets. Especially on the large co-ordinated ones. The 9/11 attacks went after the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the White House -- symbols of U.S. economic, military and political power.

Since then, there have been attacks on the Madrid and London transportation systems -- leaders from those countries flanked GWB while he was leading the invasion of Iraq. The Spanish threw their government out days after the train bombings and withdrew from the so-called Coalition.

So now, half way inbetween 9/11 and 7/7 (the London tube bombings) we have another alleged massive terrorist attack. What's the political situation? U.S. and UK troops are still in Afghanistan and Iraq. The target is the special relationship.

Iranian President would like to target both the British and Americans. This was on the news on Yahoo news. All you have to do is click on world news then click all then click Iran and it will state his true feelings toward Britain and the USA.

Basically anyone in the west. If they can get civillians from the hated US and UK, so much the better. They don't care if muslims and jews get caught up in it, because they thoroughly believe in their cause. Don't terrorists realise that their efforts will never change government policy, just government legislation on how to handle terrorism. And all this in the name of God or Allah? He must be weeping and in pain from so many getting it wrong. Its all about hate, dissatisfaction and selfishness.

Both, but America make the more prestigous trophy target in terms of damage caused, and world wide publicity.

Why dont they bring back the death penalty for those who are convicted for terrorist plots. Surely it's treason of the worst kind. And the would-be terrorists shouldnt object anyway, after all they all want to be martyrs and be 'fast-tracked' to their so-called heaven. Hang the bloody lot of them instead of clogging up the prisons.

Certainly both, and who ever else who enjoys the hospitality of these two countries. Terrorists dont care of the nationality of people killed, as long as they can get their propoganda acrosss and become martars, thats all they care about.

If they had succeeded there would have been massive loss of life of people from UK and USA so I would say both. Its horrific to think of how many would have been killed.
