for about 6 weeks, if you're frugal.

you won't be able to get much in the way of a place to live with only $5000 in your pocket. That will maybe get you through 2 months, at a pretty cheap dump. It's not only apartments that are spendy, but so is everything else. Do some serious research before you take off for LA. I was raised there, and left many years ago and would not go back. I think that at your age, you really should consider continuing your education, you can make theatre your major. Check out colleges and those options before heading off. California seems to be the promised land, but it's really more a wicked woman who will break your heart and kick you in the butt.

Why don't you move to NYC and get some training?
There is a saying that there are no bad actors in NY, and that's true because of all the fabulous acting teachers and schools.
In order to succeed, you will need some serious training along with actual talent. It's not easy. It's expensive and you will have to live cheap and work hard.
The more education (as in college) and skills (as in ability to type 70 wpm) you have, the easier it will be for you to get a job to make ends meet while you study acting and audition. Many actors are temps. Twice I have had a temp leave because they got a job. One was on One Life To Live for years and then on Santa Barbara until it went off the air. The other got a role in a major motion picture but I haven't seen them in anything after that.
I saw your photos. You have a cute quirky look.

not to spoil your dreams or anything but hopefully you would already have a place to stay when you get here and a car , rent here for a studio around Hollywood is around $850 to $1000 a month and to be available to make all your auditions you should probably have a car, but if you can get a job as soon as you get here you should be ok, just 5 grand doesn't go that far in southern Cal, if possible you should try and save more before getting here, the problem will be trying to balance work with acting, so many people come here and get caught in the shuffle, thinking they can come and start their dream of acting and find they have to work full time just to survive and can't concentrate on auditioning, plus you have to stay here at least a year to even get your feet wet before you can expect to even start getting gigs and that is probably working for free or making around $50 a day as an extra, the saying of a big fish in a small pond is true but when you get here you become a minnow in a huge ocean so be prepared for rejection and plan on staying at least 5 to 10 years if your serious about your career, that is the only way you can build contacts, it is more about who you know not what you know, just being real, good luck

Yea you can make it, rent will be around 400-700 a month if you share with someone, look for shared rooms thats all you need. Then get down to the acting. I would recommend taking another job while your acting career takes off. Harrison Ford was a carpenter.. start there. .

hey..consider moving to Ventura and commute. Its not that far from LA, on the beach and rent is WAY lower. You could easily get into a place, with roomies there. The people are laid back and friendly.Or you could move to the valley (san fernando valley) but it's WAY nicer at the beach. Good Luck.

You'd have to get a job right away, If you have a car already you could probably do it, look for single apartments in Mar Vista, or Burbank, Sunland, North Hollywood. Those areas are still relatively affordable

You will not last beyond 2 months. If you decided to move to LA, you need a job immediately.
To this day, I am still struggling to make my ends meet, and I have two bachelors.

you couldn't even move to Tijuana!!, you would have to star working the day after you arrive, of course you can always start as most of the famous actors as a waiter, pizza boy or something like that, I think you should go for it! the worst thing that could happen is you had to go back to your parents, they will always take you back, but ay least you gave your self a shot
