how many classes do you think I should take the first year of college.

The standard answer is 4. Take 4, get adjusted, and try and schedule some easier classes at first. Then plan accordingly, as another answerer said. Try not to load too many 5 course semesters back-to-back, if you can avoid it. Especially if you are planning on having a job or something.

How difficult is the school you are attending? Did you just make it in? Are you an Honors student? Did you take AP classes in high school? Will you be working while at school? What other activities will you participate in? Sports, service, Greek? Can you say 'No' to friends wanting to go to a party? The answers will tell you how big an academic step it will be going into college. If you have good time management skills and work well under pressure, 15-18 credits is good, otherwise, 12-15.

Depends. If they are three credit classes, and you have no labs, then you can probably take the standard 15 credit load or 5 classes.

It depends on what type of classes you take.

If you're going full time, five is plenty, but six is doable if you're tough.

If you're working full time and going to school part time, probably two, but absolutely no more that three.
