My and my family don't get along. I am an 18 year old male and I love acting. It has been my passion. I have starred in numerous plays. And I think that I am gonna move out to California and pursue my dream.

But I only have 5,000. Can I make it work?

I am willing to move in with a roommate to make it cheaper for me.

You're going to have to live in the outskirts of LA... maybe Long Beach. And then you'll have to get a part-time. 5000 will cover you for a few months if you know your way around.

Live with roommates and look near Universities for housing (LB State, Fullerton, Irvine, Pomona...) You could get a room for about 5-600 a month with roomies. Craigslist is good for that (look in Orange County or on University housing sites). You'd then have to commute to LA (watch out for 405 and 5 traffic) so gas would be fuuuun. It would be hard work looking for auditions all over the place. I would suggest NOT living IN LA because you will find renting there goes to the rich or VERY poor (where you wouldn't want to live). North OC is your best bet.

I lived in my car for a month just for fun when I was roadtripping over here... it's easy money then! Welcome to California. It's everything everyone says it is (if you're near the coast at least).

Be warned though: Traffic might piss you off enough to move back home, and there is no transportation system worth trying.

Good luck.

What about the competition in your field.
What're you going to do when you're down to fifty bucks.

Think about rational ways to define your problem first fo all.

"Which" one is the bigger problem ?

Family. Okay. Move away if you can. It's not just money and five gees only go so far. But get a job first. If it all goes well, then try to continue w/ ur acting interests.

Don't put the cart nef the horse, y' know.
Don't go half-****** into El Lay thinkin' it'll be a cakewalk. Thousands bef you have been hurt by poorly thought out decisions.

Above all pray to GOD with all your heart about this.

You'll be surprised. Experiences of an over-60...I also ran like a bat from my hometown forty years ago.

Here's a bonus there's an inexpensive paperback on how to solve creatively...thinking out of the box. Best ten bucks layout in a longtime. Take care.

i don't think so. it might last you 2 months because everything is high in LA. I live in LA so believe me. the first thing is that u will have to get a regular job before you can start the acting thing. u must have somewhere to live first and the apartments are so high. it will cost you at least $2000 to move in if not more.

I doubt it. My husband's uncles live out there and the cost of living is outrageous. They bought a house that would cost about $100,000 where I live in Tennessee and they paid over half a million for it near LA.

People have moved out there with less and lived in their cars.
